Gross Motor Milestones

0 to 3 months

* Holds head in the middle while on back


* Lifts head halfway or higher when placed on tummy by 3 months
 

* Moves arms and legs actively
 

* Begins to push up slightly with arms during tummy time


* Begins to turn head toward sounds or movement


* Shows primitive reflexes like the startle (Moro) and rooting reflex

* Pushes up on arms with open hands during tummy time (by 5 months)
 

* Lifts head and chest fully when on tummy (by 6 months)

* Brings hands to feet and may start to sit with support

* Walks heel-to-toe along a straight line
